1. India and China Finalize Patrolling Agreement Along Line of Actual Control (LAC)
- The agreement restores coordinated patrolling rights to pre-April 2020 status in the disputed Depsang bulge and Charding Nullah in Demchok.
- Patrolling will be coordinated with prior intimation to prevent physical face-offs and aggressive border posturing.
- Buffer zones established in Galwan, Pangong Tso, Gogra, and Hot Springs remain intact under previous phase agreements.
- Diplomatic engagement continues under the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC).
Depsang Plains are located near the strategic Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) airstrip and the Karakoram Pass, adjacent to the Darbuk-Shyok-DBO (DS-DBO) Road. WMCC was established in 2012.
Depsang and Demchok are NOT "buffer zones" under the new pact; rather, they are coordinated patrol areas where traditional patrolling rights are reinstated.
